Stored only on your own device (not on our servers): your recent tutor topics, your theme and a few page settings. Clearing your browser data removes them.
“Record class” on the Notes page uses your browser's own speech recognition: while it is on, the audio of the room is sent by your browser to its maker (Google in Chrome, Apple in Safari) to be turned into text. We only keep the text, as part of your notes. We never receive or store the audio.
Fonts and page scripts are served from our own domain; your browser does not contact Google Fonts or other code CDNs when you use ClevermarkIQ.
Vercel, Google and Microsoft are US companies, so some data (for example the text sent for AI grading, or web requests passing through Vercel) may be processed in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards in each provider's data-processing terms under UK GDPR (the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or the UK–US data bridge where the provider is certified). Ask us for a copy.
Account & activity data, including your notes and your tutor conversation, is kept while your account is open. An open account is not deleted automatically after a set time yet. When we close an account it is archived: you can no longer sign in and nobody sees it in the app, but the data stays until the account is deleted. You can delete it yourself at any time from Profile → Your data, or ask us. Aggregate (anonymised) statistics may be retained for service improvement.
An account you ask to delete is paused for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Each entry of the account activity record is kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically. If you paid us, the entries about cancelling your plan or deleting your account are kept for 6 years instead, because UK tax rules (HMRC) ask us to keep payment records that long.
ClevermarkIQ is for adults (18 or over). Before we create an account the student confirms they are 18 or over, and we record the date of that confirmation. If we learn that an account opened this way belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data. Accounts that we open ourselves under a separate written agreement have their own privacy notice.
